About the Artist
Saskia Janssen is a Dutch artist living and working in Austria. She works primarily in oil paint; her paintings are defined by visible brushstrokes, layered surfaces, and a focus on the human form. Painting from a place of stillness and attention, she embraces imperfection and expression. Her work is created in Austria and presented under her own name.
About me - Saskia Janssen
My name is Saskia Janssen. Painting, for me, is not decoration, but a practice of attention — of looking, sensing, and capturing what cannot always be expressed in words.
My work is rooted in a fascination with human presence: bodies, gestures, hands, movement, and stillness. I work primarily with oil paint, a medium that allows for time, depth, and layering. Visible brushstrokes are an essential part of my work; imperfection is welcomed. It is precisely there that authenticity emerges.
After a period in which life required me to slow down and reconsider direction, painting became an integral part of my daily life. It is a process of focus, quietness, and refinement. My paintings move between figuration and looseness — recognizable, yet never rigid.
I paint under my own name, as my work is inseparable from who I am and where I stand. Each piece is created with care and intention. No two works are the same; each painting represents a singular moment in paint.
My studio is located in Austria, where nature, light, and silence strongly influence my work. I exhibit and sell my paintings through this website.

About the Gallery
This gallery presents a selection of original oil paintings by Saskia Janssen, created in Austria. Each work is unique and painted by hand, with visible brushstrokes and layered surfaces that reflect a process of attention, stillness, and exploration.
The paintings focus primarily on the human form — gestures, posture, presence — balancing figuration with looseness and expression. Rather than striving for perfection, the work embraces authenticity and the traces of the painting process itself.
All artworks shown are original pieces and available for acquisition, unless stated otherwise.
